Surabaya, June 3rd, 2025 — Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa) receives an official visit from the delegation of St. John’s University (SJU), Taiwan, as part of a strategic partnership to strengthen academic collaboration and the university’s internationalization efforts. During the visit, Unusa, together with SJU and partner Intact Base, officially inaugurates the Mandarin Language Center, which will serve as a hub for Chinese language and cultural learning for the Unusa academic community.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Unusa Rectorate Building and is attended by Unusa’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Achmad Jazidie, M.Eng, university leaders, and delegates from SJU and Intact Base. In his remarks, Prof. Jazidie expresses his strong hopes for the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance educational quality and international exposure for Unusa students.
“We want to ensure that our students who will pursue their studies in Taiwan are safe and well supported. Please take good care of our students, and we hope this collaboration will bring significant benefits to both parties,” said Prof. Jazidie.

Responding to this, the representative from St. John’s University reaffirmes the institution’s commitment to providing the best support for Unusa students continuing their studies in Taiwan.
“We understand the Rector’s concerns, and we assure you that students from Unusa will be well taken care of and guided throughout their studies in Taiwan. They will be in a safe, comfortable environment that supports their academic and personal development,” said the SJU representative.
In addition to the inauguration of the language center, the visit also included interviews and selection processes for students who plan to continue their studies in Taiwan. The selection was conducted directly by representatives from St. John’s University and Intact Base as part of the preparatory steps for the international education program.
To conclude the event, Unusa and St. John’s University agreed to implement an intensive collaboration program, including a double degree program for students of the Information Systems Department. During the final session of the visit, interviews were conducted for seven Information Systems students who plan to join the double degree program, which consists of three years of study at Unusa and one year at St. John’s University, Taiwan.
This collaboration marks an important milestone in UNUSA’s efforts to expand its international network and equip its graduates to become globally competitive and highly capable professionals.
