Achmad Syafiuddin Secures Research Grant from National Water Research Institute of Malaysia

ACHMAD SYAFIUDDIN, a lecturer and scientist at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa), has been awarded a research grant by the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), under the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Malaysia on July 2024. The grant amounts to RM 214,758 (approximately IDR 750 million).

The research project, led by Syafiuddin, focuses on studying the impact of climate change on water resources in five dams across Malaysia. These dams are located in the states of Selangor (two dams), Johor, Sarawak, and Perak. The research team includes members from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, bringing together expertise from both institutions to tackle this pressing issue.

Syafiuddin expressed his pride and excitement about the grant.

“This grant proved that Unusa is being recognized at the ASEAN level, aligning with our strategic plan targets.” He emphasized the significance of this achievement for Unusa, as it highlights the university’s growing reputation and capability to contribute to regional research initiatives.

The research aims to provide comprehensive insights into how climate change is affecting water resources in these critical areas, which is crucial for developing sustainable water management strategies. The success of securing this grant not only boosts Unusa’s research profile but also strengthens its collaboration with international institutions, paving the way for future research opportunities and advancements (nrl/genus).
